Oooh-rah!

The mission at Marine Corp is to run sub 2:47 (6:22 ave pace).

I'll be using the blue print from my run at Boston to help me get there:

Like Boston, I'll be breaking this mission down into more manageable 5K intervals.

At Boston, they were 20 minute 5K's the entire way to hit 2:49:58. At MCM, it'll look more like this:

For those keeping track at home, the 5K intervals look like this:

5K:   20:35
10K: 19:32
15K: 19:32
20K: 19:32
25K: 19:32
30K: 19:34
35K: 19:50
40K: 20:03

Leaving me about 8 mins and 48 seconds to cover the final 1.3639 miles after the 40K mark.

If all goes to plan, then this will make for a +1 second positive split and a marathon PR.

Wouldn't have it any other way.

I'll see you on this side or the other.

Over and out.

  1. The course is flat compared with Boston, so that should help. I have heard horror stories though about the poor management of different speeds of the runners. If you can start toward the front, you should be okay, otherwise you will be fighting crowds.

    Good luck!

  2. I get cognitive dissonance just thinking about a chicken at the MARINE CORPS marathon! (Marines aren't chicken!)

But I know you'll show the Gyrenes that a pullet can run like a bullet!!
